Township of Long Hill Proclamation for Charter Members

Recently we celebrated the 40th anniversary of St. Damien Council No. 6575 in Stirling. At a business meeting we presented 3 of our charter members still active in the parish and council with a proclamation of service from the Township of Long Hill, NJ. Depicted left to right are Brothers G.K. Sean Kane, P.G.K. Joe Connolly, Deacon Peter J. O’Neill, and Dr. John Murray. Many thanks to all of our charter members and all who attended.12015086_518839354937605_5371245491792771185_o

2015 St. Damien Council No. 6575 Knights of Columbus Thanksgiving Day Food Drive

The Knights of Columbus Thanksgiving Day Food Drive in support of St. Agnes Parish in Paterson was an overwhelming success. A record 166 turkeys were donated by parishioners. Other food items donated were also at an all time high. Without your generosity, none of this would be possible. The Knights and the parishioners of St. Agnes humbly thank all who donated and helped share the spirit of Thanksgiving. A special Thank You to the Beneduce family of the Great Swamp Greenhouses for  providing the truck that allows us to transport all of the donations.

The NJ Assembly is scheduled to vote on S866/A2648, the Gestational Carrier bill. Governor Christie vetoed this bill in 2012. The bill previously passed the NJ Senate. For more information and to take action on this bill, please do the following:
1. Call and email your two Assembly members and urge them to Vote No on S866/A2648. You can send a prewritten email to your two Assemblymembers by following instructions by going to the Legislative Action Tab at www.njrtl.org
2. Call and email the Governor and urge him to veto the bill once again.Governor Christie: 609 292-6000
3. Email the Governor: http://www.state.nj.us/governor/contact/

Also the U.S. House of Representatives will vote this week on H.R. 36, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. This important measure will ban abortions on unborn children aged 20 weeks or older, based upon substantial medical evidence that these unborn children can experience pain. With H.R. 36, Congress will exercise its authority to protect these vulnerable pre-born children. However, while a vote has been scheduled for later this week, successful passage of H.R. 36 is not assured. H.R. 36 needs your personal support. Please contact your elected congressional representatives today by clicking here. Ask them to support H.R. 36 with their vote, and encourage your family, friends, fellow parishioners, and Brother Knights to get involved and actively support this legislation. At the 132nd Supreme Convention in Orlando, we resolved to “speak out to our elected representatives about the need to enact legislation…to protect human life.” With the upcoming vote on H.R. 36, it is critical that Congress hears your voice. Please make every effort to participate.

Brothers, the link below to a Google Doc spreadsheet shows the schedule for the ARC fundraiser this weekend at Dunkin Donuts in the Valley Mall. We could use more help if you are able. I also attached a table of the volunteers. Look at the link tonight and over the weekend for the most current available time slots. If you have any questions, please email me.

Brother Chris Apuzzo
